Preview of how the band works. A great bracelet to get rid of sharks. Not by magic but by science, it goes, provoking sharks to think: “Nope, not going there!” How so? You see, they have quite super-sensitive noses and can detect very faint ripples in the water.
The band creates a soft pulse, a virtually inaudible beep that humans cannot hear. It interferes with the senses of the shark. The nearest analogy would be a dog whistle. You won’t hear it, but the dog will hear it and start putting its ears to the ground. This is how the band works on sharks, essentially creating a repulsive bubble around you.
Mainly, the surfers and divers wear them so they can enjoy their ocean experience. Instead of worrying about being near sharks, they can now concentrate on riding waves or looking at fish. Beaches use these devices to create ‘safe zones’ by attaching them to buoys or nets for swimmers to swim. Like drawing a line in the sand that sharks will not cross.
