You have seen how swimmers in a pool get distracted counting the laps that they have completed, haven’t you? But with the lane rope counter, this will not happen. It is like a small torch that measures the laps for you. For instance, let’s have an example: a swimmer touches a pad on the lane rope (foam pad in the pool) at the very end of each round.
The pad patroller is the one who does the counting, so that they do not have to think. “Was it five last or six?” Well, it’s as simple as it goes, a single click results in a count of laps made.
The very first reason—it saves memory. Swimmers may practice focusing on more important aspects, such as speed or stroke, rather than manually counting for hundreds of laps. Maybe even more importantly, the most generic level of swimmers may take it well when utilizing such equipment to focus on goals that such swimmers specify without distractions, for instance, “I will swim 20 lengths today”.
