Swim monitors are responsible for the children who are swimming and for making sure that they do not get hurt. It is like a guardian responsible for the children in water, except that this one will go to great lengths to see that none of the kids are in need in case they get fatigued, slip, or such things happen.
Primarily, they look around the area, making sure no one says or does anything that goes against their consent, like diving in a shallow place, etc. They prefer keeping their eyes on the kids since some might be experiencing difficulty or causing too many water splashes.
Whether it is necessary to step in, they make their way there to prevent any possible damage to the child or to call for help in case of emergency. Besides, they try to prompt the others to obey certain rules, such as “no speedy foot movement’ or alternative uses of the slide.
What is more, it nips dangerous occurrences in the bud. On company picnics, in shared pools, or during pool training, monitors step up as guardians of the children, and it gives relief to the parents. They also show the young ones how to respect water, such as backward floating and not going too far from the wall.
Well, that brings us to the camp swimming pool again. And the next time, you are in the swimming pool, and you can see a lot of people in professional attire, especially the brightly colored T-shirts that are the swim monitors of the children. They are the people allowing you to fall into the water freely or even pushing you to compete with your buddies easily. However, they are not there to spoil everyone’s fun and play with water, but only to make me a part of the fun. 🌊✌️
